Vidcast - DadLabs

"That's the Bill Cosby."
"Hahaha."
- DadLabs.

Here is one right out of nowhere, DadLabs hosted by 2 'full time' daddies who's goal is to give an average soon to be dad a look at parenting.

Brad and Clay usually takes opposite sides on philosophically discussions like whether to send your kid to collage or just throw that collage fund into an account so he can later use in life and just send him to the local U.

They also cover gadgets, 'what to do' situations and other helpful tips. All produce in a fun, lively manner so that no matter the age of the daddy watching it's all good tv. So check the other sections just be warned, the site is more or less 'self runned' so it may be a bit confusing or messy.

Vidcast - Tekzilla.

Here is another vidcast for you g33ks out there: Tekzilla. Patrick is here, apparently he is two-timing David from Systm with Jessica.

A quick run down of Tekzilla is that it's a guy's and girl's/ g33k and non-g33k for beginner g33ks out there. Think of it as a less awkward DL.TV

Any who, they cover quite a few more gadgets (from my point of view) and rumble less on than what you see on DL.TV

But one of the cool things of the show is the theme song, just reminds me of using his forefinger continuously pushing one button on the keyboard as he stares zombified at the screen.

Where as you got Systm's 80s SciFi theme song. Both damn cool, both need to download for ringtone. Me need. Me need bad.

BTW Patrick if you are reading this, one of these days I'll send you that Porky Pig clip but instead of him saying SOB in the end I'll slice one of your's. LOL

Vidcast - systm.org

And finally for today here is a vidcast site for the intermediate to advance g33ks. Systm is basically a DIY show for PC stuff, anything from testing out how far WiFi can really go (12 miles was the optimistic distance) to setting up a Myth box to even busting open the iPhone when it first came out.

Vidcast - CrankyGeek.com

Ok here is another good vidcast site called Cranky Geeks, which is basically is round table discussion group about anything to do with tech but mostly things connected to the net.

One thing to watch out is that all of them are professionals in their fields and discussions can get a bit over your head if your knowledge is just a passing interest.

Tons of funny comments, anti-government, pro-hacker, etc, etc.

Vidcast - DL.TV

Ok, ok, I know am suppose to post at least 1 week but these past 2 weeks was hell I tell you. Anyway to make up for it here is a link to DL.TV, a cool tech show that is targeted for the beginner g33ks out there. But I find it entertaining enough for just about everyone. They have quick commentaries about the newest gadgets, 3 minute 3 game review, viewers' questions and all shorts of fun fun fun stuff.

1st my T9 goes funny then my D-Link 500T dies.

Just not a good couple of days.... my D-Link 500T went up and died again. This is my second set in 2 years since I started using them. So I decided to change to Zyxel's P-660R just for kicks. So far it is handling well so my hopes are high. The configuration of it was pretty damn simple which took me by surprise since the 500T was so hard to configure I just set my IP to the DMZ.

As you can see the status window is pretty informative especially on how much the router is straining. This by way the user login mode. When you login in admin mode you get mess with the settings.

As you can see the 660R looks really small in the pic above. Well, in actual size the 660R is twice the size of that pic. It really is a small little mofo.

Since my 500T died I decided to open it for fun. Here is what I found.

I bought the Zygel P-660R for RM110 which is not bad. I could have gotten a D-Link DSL-520T for RM99 but since my bad luck with D-Link and Zyxel has long standing history in the router market I decided to try my luck elsewhere.

On another note if you are looking for a cheap Wireless G router try this TP-Link 54Mbps Wireless-G TL-WR542G for RM130 which you can find here.

My Samsung YP-T9 hanged!

Yesterday, around lunch time my T9 hanged! That totally surprised me. I was listening to some tunes then the damn started a buzzing/static like sound. I thought, 'WTH?' And pulled it out of my pocket. Tried the power on/off button but nothing. At the time I didn't know about the Rec + Menu button for restarting the T9 otherwise I might have tried that.

When I finally got home I hoped that sticking in the USB cable may jump start the sucker. Nope no luck. So I rang up the Samsung call centre and lo' and behold they are closed at 1pm Saturday and the whole day on Sunday. I was pretty pissed. Since I just got it, well it was 2nd hand, no more than 4-6 months old but none the less my new toy seemed dead.

So, I held out hope that the T9 will run out of batteries since that the sound it was making it cause it burn up juice. Around, 12pm I tried turning it on and it displayed the 'battery low' screen and ask me to recharge.

Jesus that scared the crap out of me. Now it seems to work but am in dread of when the next time it might happen again. And whether my warranty with old Sammy is good.

Bagman NB02

Now I really don't know much about Bagman and from the hits I get from googling it gives me the impression it is not a famous brand. Of course, I could be wrong. I happen to see the sale of it in the LYN forums here and one of them caught my eye.

The Bagman NB02 can hold a 14" laptop with enough room for the power adapter and other accessories. Which was what I wanted, so I could drag my Dell C640 around and smooze with the snobs in Starbucks as we all surf the net.

So here is what it looks like on the inside:

Here is the Bagman with my Dell in it:

Here it is opened in the front:

So, according the tag attached to my Bagman, it can hold has much weight as I can carry. A bold statement I dare say. So I stuck in my Dell and its power adapter. All in all it was about 3 kilos in weight and I notice the stitching where the strap attaches to the bag starting to strain. You can see an example here with just the laptop in the bag:

This makes me a bit worried as we all know how nylon loves to unwrap when it stressed enough. Though dragging the Bagman around for a week there doesn't seem any weakening it is something you should observe once in while least your precious laptop kiss concrete as you run up a flight of steps.

So how well does the Bagman protect your lappy? Well in the laptop compartment there is thick foam padding on the front, back, bottom and sides. The laptop is secured in place with a strap/flap so it won't slip out should the bag turn upside down and the flap is open.

The strap is quite soft and is wide enough that it doesn't dig into your shoulder. There are also handles on the back and side so you can carry it by hand if you need to.

Is water tight but the flap does not cover the top completely so if your in a heavy shower you might find your lappy bobbing in the bag later.

Well, there is a lot to love about the Bagman for the price I paid for it (RM60), it is well stitched, fairly tough and comfortable. There is space still left after putting your lappy in it for the power adapter, some text books, pens, etc. Not to mention any stuff you might want to stick in the front pocket and flap's fish net pocket.
